Japan - Day 5 & 6

Day 5 was just an Admin. Day for us to get things set up for our trip to Kyoto.

Day 6.  We headed for Tokyo.
The ride to Tokyo was no short trip.  We rode the subway for I think almost 2hrs and it was getting during rush hour.  Did you know during rush hour in Japan the trains get so busy they have what they refer to as "white glove pushers" out on the platforms.  These people wearing white gloves stand at the open doors of the train and shove people in so they can fit in a few more.  It is insane.  Since we had gotten on so far down the line we had seats but for the people that didn't there was barely room to breath.  I have no idea how people do that day in and day out.  Once we got to town we found the Imperial Palace right off.  Chloe did some dances for us on the grounds of the Palace and a ton of jumps.  She was very into smelling any flowers she found.  There were a couple of super cool ponds and we got to see the old structures where the Samurai used to sleep.  The Palace had many walls to protect it and the Samurai slept within one of the first layers of defense.  It was pretty neat.

After we left the Imperial Palace we found lunch and then as we were walking around we stumbled upon this festival at one of the shrines, it was an amazing set up.  We think the lanterns might have been for good luck but really we don't know.  They were up on temporary structures lining the whole way up to the shrine.  There was some dancing and art up at the shrine and around the corner some sort of air museum.

After we checked out the shrine we headed to a really interesting part of town.  I can't remember the name of it but there we saw things like this building where the walls were literally alive.  I though that was pretty darn neat.
Finally we headed home after a super long day of walking and Chloe did what any normal girl would do, she broke out in song and dance, lol.
