Swim Class - Fall 2011

Chloe "surfing" on a floating mat
Chloe started swim classes in the fall of 2011.  She is really doing great and progressing quickly and she loves the class.

Catch Me If You Can - Race

At the end of October we did a Family race.  Doug ran the 5k pushing Chloe.  I ran the 10k.  Chloe ran the kids race.  We all walked away with ribbons and prizes, wooot wooot.  Chloe wore her Ladybug costume.  So darn cute.  Love a family race day.

Atlanta Trip - October 2011

Chloe reaching to pet a sting ray
In October Chloe and I flew to Atlanta.  Originally I had planned to run a race there but in the end I paced a friend and Chloe and I got to spend some great time with Aunt Betsie and Uncle Dave as well as see Grandma Joyce.  On Sunday Aunt Betsie and I took Chloe to the aquarium.  She had a great time.

Love this photo

There was a cool tunnel where you could explore the penquins from inside their tank

Halloween Season 2011

Doug and Chloe had a great time getting out our Halloween Decorations.  Chloe wanted to be a Ladybug for Halloween which worked out great since she was one last year, we just recycled her costume :).  However she had a friend who has a Birthday right around Halloween and she needed to be dressed as a fairy or princess for the party so, we ended up with a second costume (she loved it).  Sadly a NorEaster hit right before Halloween so Halloween was cancelled in our town, we were without power for a week again (but had the generator to run our water and heat this time, wahoooooo). We did get to go trick or treating at the mall (since going outside was against the law, literally).  Pretty odd Halloween season but we had fun and managed to get tons of candy, :).

OMG I love this photo.  Doug and Chloe like to have parades.  They are hysterical.

Love the pose

They had the girls dress up for Ballet class.  How cute are they.  Chloe and her good buddy Marlena both dressed up as Ladybugs.

Quick Trip to VT

In October Chloe and I made a quick trip to VT to see the cousins.  Wahooo! Great Fun.

A Trip to the Children's Museum

Chloe ready for the drive
In early October we went down into the city to meet up with our good friends Anna and her son Eman.  We had a great day at the Childrens Museum in Queens.

Chloe's First 5K

Chloe's 1st 5K.  When she said she wanted to run a longer race I couldn't find one between 1 and 3 miles so we discussed how far 3 miles was and she still wanted to take a crack at it.  I was so scared she wouldn't like it and ... she loved the first mile, liked the second mile and hated/cried in the 3rd mile.  She took off for the 1st mile, like took off took off, the kid ran a 10mm for the first mile.  The people she passed were not at all pleased to be passed by a 3yr old but they cheered her on none the less.  She threw down a 10:30mm second mile.  Somehow I knew this meant we were in for trouble.  She kept running and then would cry.  I told her we could walk but then she would say she wanted to run but her legs hurt and start to cry again and then take off running.  Those were some gut wrenching moments.  I don't know if I should have carried her in or what.  She finished the race and was quite proud.  We stayed around for the awards because they were supposed to be awards for every 5yr age group.  Unfortunately they cancelled all the age groups below 20 so Chloe ran her first 5k and got cheated out of her moment of glory.  As a parent I wanted to go wring someones neck but, what can you do?  She did amazing.

Chloe's Fall Kids Race

Chloe wanted to race again this fall racing season so we signed her up for some races.  This one was a kids fun run and she had a great time but she was bummed that it was too short.  :)

Visit with GG Grimm

In September.  Doug and Chloe met up with Grandma Meg, Great Grandma Meg, Aunt Megan and Aunt Betsie.  She had a great time.  Can you believe Chloe has a Great Grandma that is almost 102 yrs old?  Amazing.

Chloe and Doug Dancing

We had our neighbor Rob over for dinner and after dinner Chloe treated us to some dancing.

Hurricane Irene

Chloe bathing in the neighbors boat.  They had turned it so rain water would fill it during the hurricane and we all used the clean water, yay!
Hurricane Irene did a number on our area.  We lost power for a week, eaaaakkkk!!! If you have a well and pump, no power is, no bueno.  So no power and no running water for a week.  We got pretty creative.  We brought up buckets of water from the lake to make the toilet flush.  Chloe took a bath in the neighbors boat.  We charged our phones off of our car battery and we made our food on the camping stove in the garage.  Thank goodness Doug is the handiest guy in the world, he got us hooked up with a generator soon after this so, we were ready for the NorEaster that knocked out our power for a week in October.
